Fall River man on probation arrested on multiple drug and firearms charges – Fall River Reporter

Patrol officers arrested a man after finding crack cocaine and a loaded handgun on him.

According to police, units were called to the Last Round Bar & Grill in New Bedford in the early morning hours of Sunday for a report of a fight in progress.

Upon arrival, it was learned that a male suspect had threatened security personnel with a firearm before fleeing the scene in a vehicle, which he soon abandoned behind the establishment. From there he fled on foot, but was shot dead shortly thereafter at the intersection of William St. and Acushnet Ave. stopped by officers.

The suspect initially gave a false name but was soon identified as 28-year-old Ricky Ricardo Lorenzi of Fall River. It was determined that Lorenzi had an active warrant for his arrest.

Two bags of crack cocaine and a digital scale were discovered in the vehicle from which he fled. It was then learned that Lorenzi had discarded a firearm on the doorstep of a nearby building.

The weapon recovered was a Taurus G3C loaded with a high-capacity magazine containing 16 9mm rounds.

Lorenzi was taken into custody and charged with a number of serious offenses including, but not limited to, possession of a firearm loaded with a high-capacity magazine, threatening to use a firearm, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and possession of crack cocaine.

Lorenzi had already been convicted of weapons possession in January 2023 and sentenced to two years in prison. At the time of his arrest, he was on probation in Fall River District Court.

The arresting officer was Shawn Raposo.
