Cam Newton talks viral pregame interactions with Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter

Former Auburn legend Cam Newton decided to show this some support Colorado buffalo recently. He had one awkward pre-game interaction with their two superstar quarterbacks Shedeur Sanders and two-way star Travis Hunter.

Newton decided to take some time off Podcast to address the awkward interaction with Hunter and Sanders.

“It was controversial. It was a bit awkward. Not just with Shedeur, but with Travis…I think to protect our conversation. And I think I must and will obey that,” Newton explained.

“I think the difference between that age of the athletes and the age of the athletes themselves when I played. So it's aimed directly at the consumer. And I even shared this with Shedeur. I said, brother, there is a lot of support for you. And your father. And even Colorado. You don’t see that because people don’t naturally dwell on the good,” Newton continued.

“You read the type of content you like. Or that gets your attention…. He [Shedeur Sanders] I have to understand that these are the big leagues now. But I also have to understand this. Sometimes I have more strength than I give myself,” Newton admitted.

He wanted to make sure of that Shedeur Sanders understands the day ZERO became legal, college players essentially became professionals.

“But I think Shedeur understands the day they allowed NIL to be legal, bro. You are no longer an amateur. They used to be able to protect the college athlete. “That’s not happening,” Newton said.

Travis Hunter once again looks to be one of the most dominant players in college football. He had 46 catches for 561 yards and six touchdowns. On defense, he has already grabbed two interceptions.

Shedeur Sanders has made a good impression this season and received high praise from former ESPN NFL Draft analyst Todd McShay and many others. He completed 70.1% of his passes for 1,630 yards while throwing 14 touchdowns and three interceptions. Many predict he will be the No. 1 quarterback prospect selected in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Colorado is currently 4-1 overall in the 2024 season. They will face the Kansas State Wildcats on October 12th. Kickoff is scheduled for 10:15 p.m. EST and the game will be televised nationally on ESPN.
