Wisconsin's Trech Kekahuna describes the viral TD celebration after the breakthrough

“I saw a beer and had to celebrate.”

Wisconsin redshirt freshman wide receiver Trech Kekahuna had the best performance of his career against Purdue. His six catches, 134 receiving yards and two touchdowns are all career highs.

The Badgers' offense exploded for nearly 600 total yards in their 52-6 win over the Boilermakers. Kekahuna's 69-yard touchdown reception in the third quarter opened the way to a comfortable win.

After the game, Kekahuna used the football as a prop in the end zone and pretended to shoot a beer. It's a celebration that has caught the attention of many Badgers fans at the stadium and online on social media.

“The story was: I was bent over, I was completely exhausted and then I saw a beer on the front,” Kekahuna told reporters after the game. “I had to do the celebration, and I did it.”

A native of Honolulu, Hawaii, Kekahuna was a top-500 recruit in the class of 2023. He has become a fan favorite among Badgers fans. He caused a stir during the preseason and was considered a potential breakout candidate. Today he officially established himself as an elite weapon in Wisconsin's offense.

Wisconsin's No. 1 wide receiver Will Pauling was banged up early in the game and limited throughout, finishing the day without a single reception. If he's healthy, he'll likely remain the top target, but Kekahuna is more than capable of handling those duties.

Junior Vinny Anthony II helped with two catches for 66 yards and a touchdown, while CJ Williams added four catches for 60 yards. There's a chance that Purdue is among the worst teams Wisconsin will face this season, but Saturday showed that this offense has the potential to be explosive with Braedyn Locke under center.
