Officer injured in crash involving police car and private vehicle – NBC10 Philadelphia

An officer was injured in a crash in Philadelphia on Saturday, according to a police department spokesman.

The accident occurred just after 5:30 p.m. in the 700 block of West Luzerne Street in the Hunting Park neighborhood, police said.

The officer was responding to what police called a priority call, officials said. While he was driving, a private vehicle crashed into his assigned patrol car.

The patrol car was damaged on the passenger side in the accident, police said.

Police said the officer was taken to a nearby hospital by other emergency responders. He is expected to be treated and released.

The Philadelphia Police Department's Accident Investigation Unit is working to determine what happened.
