Uniontown man charged with possession of child pornography

A Uniontown man was arrested for possessing child pornography on his cellphone that he told police he downloaded from a Russian website, according to a criminal complaint.

Teddy Bowers, 24, is charged with 50 counts of child pornography and one count of criminal use of a criminal communications facility.

According to the complaint, the Attorney General's Office opened an investigation after an anonymous tip was sent to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in May and discovered that over 50 children were alive between February 5, 2023 and October 3, 2024 Screenshots containing sexually explicit photos of children under 10 were linked directly to Bower's cell phone.

Police executed a search warrant Thursday morning for Bowers' home at 220 Crossland Ave. in Uniontown. Police said Bowers turned in his phone and a forensic computer examiner was able to confirm and recover images of child pornography of children under 10 on his mobile device.

Bowers was booked into the Fayette County Jail, his bond was set at $50,000 and his preliminary hearing was scheduled for Oct. 10.
