Drug smuggler's property worth Rs 1.40 crore seized

Ludhiana police today seized property of a drug smuggler worth Rs 1.40 crore. The suspect was arrested by Daresi police in 2019 in a drug case.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (North) Davinder Chaudhari along with the police team pasted a property attachment notice on the suspect's property.

In a statement released, the ACP said Aniket, alias Ankit Batra, a resident of Balmiki Nagar, Basti Jodhewal, purchased a residential and commercial property in Balmiki Nagar using the proceeds of drug money. After checking the property, orders to seize the property were obtained from the relevant authorities. An asset seizure notice was also posted there on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the police have already sent a list of the properties of several other smugglers to the relevant authorities to obtain approval for the seizure. In the last few months, Ludhiana police have seized property worth crores of rupees from drug smugglers.
