Amethi murders: Woman's relatives refute 'affair' allegation, say accused forcibly took photos | Latest News India

The bodies of the school teacher and his wife, who were shot dead along with their two daughters in Amethi, were consigned to flames on Saturday. Police allege that accused Chandan Verma killed the family after his affair with the teacher's wife ended. However, the woman's brother has rejected the police version and alleged that Verma forcibly took photos with his sister.

Bhanu, brother of deceased Ms Poonam, said the accused forced the woman to talk to him.

“He (Chandan) always forced my sister to talk to him. He also forcibly took photos with her, which are now being circulated,” he told the media on Saturday.

He accused the police of inaction on Poonam's FIR.

“Had the local police taken action against Chandan after my sister lodged an FIR, this incident would not have happened,” he added.

On Saturday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath met the relatives of the deceased in Lucknow.

“The UP chief minister expressed grief but said he stands with the family and assured that all possible help will be provided,” said BJP MP Manoj Pandey.

He also assured that a family member would be given a government job. They also receive financial support from the state.

“Today I met the family of the victim of the unfortunate incident that occurred in Amethi at my official residence in Lucknow in the presence of Honorable MLA from Unchahar Manoj Pandey ji. “The UP government stands by the bereaved family with full compassion and commitment,” Yogi Adityanath said in a statement.

He also assured the family of justice.

The government school teacher, his 32-year-old wife Poonam and their two daughters Drishti and Suni were shot dead in Ahorwa Bhawani area of ​​Amethi.

Police found that the woman had lodged an FIR against the accused for harassment on August 18 in Rae Bareli.

Verma, a resident of Raebareli, told police that he reached the victims' house on Thursday, became angry over a discussion there and shot the family members.

He claimed that he had an affair with Poonam for the last 18 months and their relationship later failed.

He tried to kill himself, but the gun misfired.

On Saturday, 27-year-old Verma was shot in the leg when he allegedly opened fire on the police team.
