Vallejo man charged with murder in connection with killing of woman

A man was charged with murder Saturday in connection with the September killing of a woman in Vallejo, police said.

According to Vallejo police, at approximately 12:27 a.m. on September 6, police responded to reports of a vehicle collision and shots fired near the intersection of Tennessee Street and Mare Island Way.

At the scene, officers found a white 2005 Honda Accord that had crashed near the intersection and found a woman inside who had suffered at least one gunshot wound. The woman, the car's only occupant, was extricated from the vehicle and pronounced dead, police said.

The Solano County District Attorney's Office has charged 27-year-old Vallejo resident Omar David Molina Mendoza with murder. Mendoza was already in custody at the Solano County Jail because no charges had been filed against him, according to police.
