records: Pennington (16-9-0) | Pena (12-5-0)

Pennington lost her first championship attempt to Amanda Nunes Back in May 2018 at UFC 224. She fought hard to position herself for another shot at a strap and she prevailed Mayra Bueno Silva by unanimous decision at UFC 297 at the end of January to finally become champion. Now she is about to defend her title for the first time.

Pennington has won 6 fights in a row, with 5 of those victories coming by decision. The only result was an assist in the 2nd round against Macy Chiasson in December 2021.

Pena steps into the octagon for the first time since suffering a unanimous decision loss to Nunes in a title fight at UFC 277. She attempted to defend her belt after defeating Nunes at UFC 269 for her first title. Pena was scheduled to have a third and decisive fight with Nunes at UFC 289, but Pena was forced to withdraw due to a broken rib in training camp.

Pena has a 1.5-inch reach advantage over the champion, while Pennington has a 4.14 to 3.16 significant hits per minute advantage. Pena is slightly more accurate at 65.0%, while the Champion is 60.24%. Pena's ground game was also much better and he dominates in takedown average (1.94) and takedown accuracy (55.17%).

UFC 307: Pennington vs. Pena tips and predictions

Fight result (2-way line or money line)

PENNINGTON (-165) is a solid bet to get the job done on the 2-way line.

While Pena (+135) has a slight reach advantage and is slightly more accurate with her significant strikes, she hasn't fought in over 26 months. It remains to be seen how her cardio will fare after not having a meaningful fight since July 30, 2022.

Furthermore, Pennington will likely take this from a distance. Since UFC 202, she has gone the distance in 3 consecutive fights, 8 of the last 9 fights and 11 of the previous 13 outings. She wins regularly, but simply doesn't achieve any rankings.

So pay attention to this too PENNINGTON BY DECISION (+100) at even-money for the method of victory.

Over/Under (O/U)

Yes (-250): Will the fight go the distance? will set you back two and a half times your potential return, and that's way too much risk for not nearly enough reward.

Again, 11 of Pennington's last 13 fights have gone the distance, while Pena has required help from judges to determine a winner in 4 of her previous 8 outings.

HAPPEN.
