Pereira vs. Rountree Jr. took place on October 5 at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. Alex Pereira (12-2) and Khalil Rountree Jr. (13-6, 1 no-contest) faced each other in the main event. The fight was broadcast live on pay-per-view on ESPN+.

Round 1

Pereira hops around the ring and throws a high kick, nearly tripping as Rountree grabs him. Rountree quickly fires back with punches. He stays bouncy as Pereira looks for an angle to attack. Leg kick from Pereira, Rountree hits a left hand.

Pereira throws a counterattack to the right. As Rountree stands next to him, he appears ready to land a knockout blow of his own. Pereira with a stinging leg kick. Pereira now wants to counterattack. Rountree blocks a high kick. Roundtree with a look to the right. He doesn't look intimidated.

Left hand from Rountree connects again. Rountree catches a kick but misses the sweep attempt. Rountree scores with his right. Another left from Rountree comes through. Pereira punishes the leg with a kick.

Round 2

Pereira moves quickly to the middle again, but this time he lets Rountree come to him. Rountree still uses his left hand well. He blocks a kick and scores again with his left. Pereira avoids the stronger punches, but that left punch is giving him problems.

The counterattack to the left from Pereira and Rountree didn't please. A leg kick slowed Roundtree. Pereira applies the kick. He lands a punch in the stomach. Rountree throws to the right and circles. However, it is the champion who controls the range.

Pereira misses a high kick and Rountree makes him pay with a right hand. It looked like Pereira faltered, but that was probably just a balance issue. I don't think this will result in a knockdown. Pereira's stab was money all around. Rountree takes a chance and lunges forward to land a straight left. Right hand from Pereira. High kick from Rountree, Pereira shakes it off.

Round 3

Two good links from Rountree opened the round. Pereira must respect this power. Jab from Pereira. Rountree goes to the body with a punch and scores. Easy high kick from Pereira. Left hook from Pereira followed by a right and a jab. Rountree shoots back to keep him honest.

Hard leg kick from Pereira and another. Rountree stealthily fires in another body shot while catching a leg kick. Pereira wants to take him down. Rountree with a counter left. Jab from Pereira. Rountree swings right and circles away. He doesn't let Pereira trick him into doing anything devastating. Pereira applies pressure with the shot. He kicks Rountree's leg out.

Rountree gets a little desperate with his wing flaps. Pereira closes the round with a crisp combo and a clinch knee.

Round 4

Pereira's jab is lightning fast. Direct shot on goal for the champion, then a leg kick. Rountree eats a big jab and feels the accumulated damage. Pereira lays it on a bloody Rountree now.

Rountree just throws back, he eats big shots, but he wants to land a knockout punch. Pereira pokes himself in the face and uses powerful punches. This could be the end. The big right of Pereira and Rountree is doing what he can to survive. More hard punches from the champion, blood running down Rountree's face and body. He still has to last another 90 seconds, and even if he does, Corner may want to throw in the towel.

Rountree shows amazing heart, but he is beaten. Pereira does what he can to put an end to it, but somehow Rountree doesn't go down. Goddard watched closely and was able to stop it, but Rountree still strikes.

Pereira keeps pouring it. Roundtree is crumbling. And still.
