Putney couple arrested, woman charged with assaulting officer

PUTNEY – Vermont State Police arrested two residents late Tuesday night after an altercation at a local home.

On October 1st at approximately 11:57 p.m., troopers were dispatched to a disturbance on Mill Brook Road.

Upon arrival, officers encountered Chelsea M. Long, 25, and Stephen Robinson, 31, both of Putney.

It was determined that Robinson had an outstanding warrant for his arrest and was taken into custody without incident.

He was taken to the Southern State Correctional Facility for detention.

During the incident, Long assaulted a Vermont State Trooper.

The officer involved reported no injuries.

Long was arrested for assault on a protected officer and resisting arrest.

It was processed and released to a family member with a summons to appear in the Vermont Superior Court Windham Criminal Division on November 26 at 8:30 a.m

Vermont State Police have not released any information about the victim of the disturbance, following confidentiality guidelines in sexual assault or domestic violence cases.

The investigation into the incident continues as authorities work to determine the full extent of the incident.
