UFC 307 Live Blog: Jose Aldo vs. Mario Bautista

This is the UFC 307 live blog for Jose Aldo vs. Mario Bautista, this Saturday's main card fight in Salt Lake City.

Widely considered one of the greatest fighters of all time, Aldo is a long-time WEC and UFC featherweight champion and one of MMA's pioneers in the lower weight classes. After losing his UFC title in 2017, many thought it might be the end of Aldo's career, but instead “The King of Rio” made the move down to bantamweight, where he continued to rack up notable victories until his 40th birthday. After a brief retirement from MMA, Aldo returned to the UFC earlier this year to defeat up-and-coming contender Jonathan Martinez and now has another tough challenge against the up-and-coming Bautista.

Bautista, currently No. 11 in the UFC bantamweight rankings, enters the biggest fight of his career on a five-fight winning streak, most recently picking up a unanimous decision win over Ricky Simon in January. The MMA Lab product hopes to establish himself as a legitimate 135-pound title opponent with a win over one of the greatest of all-time.
