Teen arrested in armed carjacking in Northeast Baltimore

PHILADELPHIA – Police in Pennsylvania have arrested an Uber driver accused of following a student into her campus dorm and raping her after dropping her off, authorities said Friday.

The suspect, identified as 26-year-old Mirvan Dinler, was taken into custody in connection with the alleged assault on the night of September 13, 2024, according to a report from WPVI, the local ABC affiliate.

The incident occurred after the victim, a Villanova University student, felt ill during a birthday party with friends in Philadelphia. She decided to leave early, and her friends reportedly waited with her until an Uber driven by Dinler arrived around 10:19 p.m

According to police, Dinler allegedly drove the student back to her dorm and arrived at the university around 11:08 p.m. After dropping her off, he is accused of following her to her dorm room, where he allegedly raped her and forced her to perform oral sex.

After she left, Dinler allegedly returned to demand money from the victim, claiming she had made a mess in his car. The victim reportedly handed over her phone, which Dinler used to send himself $150 via Venmo before leaving, WPVI reported.

The student reported the attack to university officials the following week. Villanova University has since barred Dinler from its property while the investigation continues.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident and no further details have been released.
