Memorial service for Cougar Store employees will be held Saturday | News

Mont “Flea” Bodine, a longtime Cougar Store employee, died Oct. 1 at age 58. A viewing will be held at the Gent Funeral Home in Alton at 3 p.m. on Saturday, October 5, followed by a memorial service at 6 p.m.

Bodine spent much of his life at SIUE, attending the university during his undergraduate years and later working at the bookstore. According to his obituary, Bodine was a member of the local pop-punk band Judge Nothing and played with headliners such as Green Day and Joan Jett.

Euclid Records said goodbye to Bodine on its Instagram page, saying his death was “shocking.” [to] everyone who loved him and played with him.”

Although Judge Nothing primarily produced music throughout the '90s, Bodine's obituary states that he continued to play bass guitar. Bodine also took up running as a hobby with his family and dogs.

Bodine was involved in volunteer work. Sierra Club-Piasa Palisades, an organization for which he volunteered, is accepting memorial donations. His obituary states that there is a fund to place a bench at Memorial Park in Bodine's honor.
