ABOUT OUR HONOR

“Mario Lopez's star on the Walk of Fame is a well-deserved tribute to his impressive career as a television personality,” said Ana Martinez, producer of the Hollywood Walk of Fame. “Many of us watched Mario grow up on the television screen and the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce is pleased to honor him on his birthday! This award is definitely the icing on the cake!” added Martinez.

Mario Lopez is the consummate entertainer. In addition to hosting “Access Hollywood” and “Access Daily with Mario & Kit,” the two-time Emmy winner has an overall development deal with NBCUniversal. He is also the host of national iHeartMedia radio shows: “On with Mario Lopez,” “iHeartRadio Countdown with Mario Lopez,” and the boxing podcast “The 3 Knockdown Rule.”

Lopez rose to fame as “AC Slater” on the hit '90s teen series “Saved By The Bell” and appeared in and produced two seasons of the “Saved By The Bell” reboot on NBC's “Peacock.” As an actor, Lopez has appeared on the NBC hit series “This is Us” and The CW series “Jane the Virgin.” Lopez also appeared in “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” and “The Rookie” and voiced the recurring role of “Cruz” in Disney's animated series “Elena of Avalor” alongside his daughter Gia. He played “Dr. Mike Hamoui' in an extended storyline on the popular F/X Network show “Nip/Tuck.” Lopez previously starred in the highest-rated show in the history of Freeform, formerly ABC Family, “Holiday in Handcuffs.”

As a producer, Lopez co-created and executive produced the Netflix series The Expanding Universe of Ashley Garcia, a Latinx family comedy centered on a 15-year-old robotics engineer and her family. He is also producing and starring in the upcoming Christmas film “Once Upon a Christmas Wish,” along with his wife Courtney and son Dominic. The film will premiere on The Great American Family in December. A true fan of Christmas movies, Lopez has also produced and starred in Lifetime's Christmas movies, including “Holiday in Santa Fe” and “FelizNaviDAD.”

No stranger to rigorous routines, Lopez danced her way to the finals on the third season of ABC's hit series “Dancing with the Stars.” Shortly thereafter, in the summer of 2009, he successfully completed his first appearance on Broadway, appearing in the long-running hit musical “A Chorus Line.” There he also met his wife Courtney.

As an author, Mario published his first autobiography, “Just Between Us.” He shares his successes and disappointments in his memoirs, never-before-told stories and family values. Lopez became a New York Times bestselling author of his guide to healthy eating, Extra Lean. In May 2011 he released the sequel entitled “Extra Lean Family”. Additionally, Mario has written “Mario Lopez's Knockout Fitness,” a NYT bestselling fitness book that offers readers a glimpse into his impressive training program. He also co-authored “Mud Tacos,” a lively children's book with his sister Marissa, and “Mario & Baby Gia,” a children's book he wrote for his daughter Gia. Mario & Baby Gia is currently being developed into an animated series.

Mario has been named an Alumni Ambassador for Fitness by the Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA), joining approximately 25 other prominent alumni, including Denzel Washington and former President Bill Clinton, in the BE GREAT Organization's campaign. The campaign is helping to bring to light the major issues facing today's young people, including the importance of completing school, maintaining a healthy lifestyle and the key role that community-based organizations like BGCA play in the positive development of children.
