ATLANTIC CITY, NJ – Atlantic City police say a 5-year-old child was seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle Friday evening.

The incident occurred on October 4 at approximately 5:48 p.m. in the 2600 block of Fairmount Avenue. According to police, the child was struck by the vehicle and suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The child was flown to Cooper University Hospital in Camden for treatment. The driver involved in the crash remained at the scene and was not injured, authorities said.

The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office is assisting in the investigation. No further details about the circumstances of the crash were released.

  • Delaware State Police are investigating shootings in Milton

    MILTON, Del. – Authorities say Delaware State Police are investigating a shooting that occurred early Saturday morning in Milton.

    Police responded to the 28000 block of West Springside Drive at approximately 12:58 a.m. on October 5, 2024 after reports of shots fired. An unknown suspect fired several shots, one of which hit an occupied home. No injuries were reported among residents.

    No suspect information is currently available and there is no surveillance footage to assist in the investigation.

  • Buncombe County officials are tending to storm-damaged wells and calling for disinfection

    ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The Buncombe County Sheriff's Office is working with Environmental Health to ensure residents with storm-damaged wells have access to clean drinking water following recent flooding in the area.

    In a statement released Saturday, officials said wells that were flooded or structurally damaged during the storm needed to be disinfected to prevent health risks. A flooded well is a well that had water above the surface at some point during the storm.

    Residents are urged to follow disinfection instructions found on the Buncombe Ready website or through resources provided by the Sheriff's Office. Once a well has been disinfected, homeowners can schedule an appointment to have a water sample taken by calling 828-250-5016.

    According to the sheriff's office, the line to schedule testing appointments will be active starting Monday, October 7th.
