The 10 best games to watch

Welcome to football in October. And a damn good start, too.

Week 5 has a plethora of quality games, including a couple of tough AFC clashes in the early going, with the Buffalo Bills hosting the Houston Texans and the Cincinnati Bengals hosting the Baltimore Ravens.

There's also plenty of excitement in the prime-time games: The New Orleans Saints and the Kansas City Chiefs meet on Monday evening and the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Dallas Cowboys meet in the Steel City on Sunday evening.

But which game is the best? Which games aren't that good but still make the list? Let's investigate.

This is more about curiosity than excitement. The Jaguars have been a full-blown tire fire and could suffer another loss or two as Doug Pederson needs a real estate agent. In the meantime, The Colts have quarterback questions and the worst-ranked defense in the league. Let's celebrate!

Somehow this game is about sole possession of second place in the AFC West. How good is Denver's defense? The Broncos are 2-2, with quarterback Bo Nix throwing for 165 yards per game on a comical 4.8 yards per attempt. Expect a low-scoring, hard-hitting affair decided by whoever makes a big mistake.

At the very least, we should see plenty of attacks. The Cardinals have Marvin Harrison Jr. and Michael Wilson on the outside, while tight end Trey McBride provides additional impact. San Francisco isn't at full strength yet with Christian McCaffrey still out, but George Kittle and Deebo Samuel are back. Expect lots of points.

Jayden Daniels is A must-see on television. Beyond that, Cleveland could be on the brink swap some players awayincluding star receiver Amari Cooper if things don't change quickly. We could be witness to it Promotion of a team and the downfall of another.

This game would rank higher if the Rams weren't so plagued by injuries. Still, Los Angeles is a dangerous team, especially Matthew Stafford and Sean McVay. As far as the Packers are concerned, this is a borderline win if they want to stay in the thick of the NFC North race.

This is a great old-school rivalry and the only matchup of teams that have played each other in three Super Bowls, with the Steelers winning twice. As for the current iterations, Dallas will be without star edge rushers Micah Parsons and DeMarcus Lawrence. Can the Cowboys overcome these losses and pull out a big road win on Sunday night?

Two weeks ago the Saints were the best team in football. Suddenly they're trying to avoid falling below .500. Meanwhile, the Chiefs will be without Rashee Rice, Marquise “Hollywood” Brown and Isiah Pacheco. Still, Kansas City is the favorite in its bid to enter Week 6 as the AFC's only undefeated team.

England get a good game as the Vikings host Aaron Rodgers and the Jets. New York suffered an embarrassing loss to the Broncos, which was held without a touchdown. Minnesota was the league's surprise team, led by Sam Darnold and his NFL-best 11 touchdown passes.

This is a fascinating game. Baltimore got out of the proverbial predicament with wins over the Cowboys and Bills after an 0-2 start. Cincinnati, on the other hand, is still in big trouble. A loss for the Bengals and making the playoffs becomes an extremely daunting challenge. No NFL team has made the playoffs after a 1-4 start.

CJ Stroud and Josh Allen. The revenge story of Stefon Diggs. Someone will make it to the decisive tiebreaker at the end. Everything happens on Sunday in Houston, with the first-ever meeting between these two quarterbacks. If there's a game where you have to score 30 points to win, it's this one.
