Giants rookie Tyrone Tracy Jr. could make his first NFL start

SEATTLE – Midway through the week, Tyrone Tracy Jr. expected Devin Singletary to be fine and available for Sunday's game against the Seahawks.

Finally, Singletary has proven to be a tough guy in his NFL career despite his lack of size, not missing a game due to injury since his rookie year in 2019.

“God works in mysterious ways. “You never know how you’re going to feel in a few days,” Tracy told The Post. “He could feel a lot better. “He’s a strong-willed guy, so he’ll be fine.”

Singletary is not doing well and is listed as doubtful due to a groin strain he suffered in the 20-15 loss to the Cowboys.

Next up for the Giants at running back is Tracy, a fifth-round rookie who is about to make his first start in the NFL.

“I think I’m prepared,” Tracy said. “I have been preparing for this opportunity all along. At the same time, I won't really change anything I've done. “I believe if you prepare properly, you will be ready when the opportunity presents itself.”

Tracy and sophomore Eric Gray will get the ball and represent the running game out of the backfield.

In four games, Tracy was used here and there: 12 rushing attempts for just 29 yards and three receptions for 37 yards.

The fact that he feels more comfortable as a pass catcher is not surprising.

Tracy was a wide receiver at Iowa before switching to running back after transferring to Purdue.

During the mini-break – the Giants haven't played since Sept. 26 – Tracy studied his limited work in the NFL and determined what he liked and didn't like about his performance.

“You look at yourself in the mirror to see how you can get better,” Tracy said. “One thing I didn't like was my pad level when I ran the ball, and I had to be more demonstrative and just impose my will on the defense when I ran the ball. I think if I change these two things, I'll feel much better. “What I like is that I catch the ball very well from the backcourt and learn blitz attacks very well.”

Former Giants safety Julian Love left Seattle's 42-29 loss at Detroit last week and is listed as questionable with a groin injury.

He started last season for his new team against the team that selected him in the fourth round of the 2019 draft, with the Seahawks winning 24-3 at MetLife Stadium.

“Of course, just playing my game, you’re obviously going to play with a little chip on your shoulder,” Love said. “It's hard not to because you might fly around with a little more momentum. We've been working all year and I can't just throw everything away just because I'm playing against these guys.”

When Daniel Jones studied the Seahawks, he saw something quite unusual.

In the last game, they allowed the opposing quarterback a perfect game as Jared Goff completed all 18 of his passes for 292 yards and two touchdowns.

“Yes, you saw him do it,” Jones said. “He played well, obviously threw the ball accurately and made good decisions. “I think you understand that a lot of times the way the game goes is there are a few incompletions, a few ejections and shots that you miss, but definitely something to aim for.”

Injuries required two raises from the practice squad.

Veteran WR Isaiah Hodgins was activated for the game because Malik Nabers did not make the trip as he remains in the concussion protocol.

Rookie RB Dante “Turbo” Miller has been elevated as starting RB Devin Singletary (groin) is listed as doubtful.

LB and special teamer Matt Adams was activated from injured reserve. LB Benton Whitley was waived.
