Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe says the future of under-pressure coach Erik ten Hag is “not my decision”.

Billionaire Ratcliffe took control of football operations at Old Trafford in February and in July the club extended Ten Hag's contract by a year.

But after a difficult start to the campaign, Ratcliffe said the United hierarchy he set up needed to “take stock and make some sensible decisions”.

Asked whether he still had faith in former Ajax coach Ten Hag, Ratcliffe told BBC Sport: “I don't want to answer that question.”

“I like Eric. I think he is a very good coach but ultimately it is not my decision,” said Ratcliffe, who has overhauled the club’s board structure and executive team since investing £1.25 billion for a 27.7% stake Association.
