According to AFP news agency, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant has warned Iran that it could end up like Gaza or Beirut if it tries to harm Israel.

“The Iranians did not compromise the Air Force’s capabilities – no aircraft were damaged, no squadron was disabled,” Gallant said in a statement, referring to Iran’s recent missile attack on Israel.

“Anyone who thinks that simply trying to harm us will stop us from taking action should take a look at (our successes) in Gaza and Beirut,” Gallant added.

Iran said the rocket attack, which hit two Israeli Air Force bases, was in response to the killing of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah and Iranian General Abbas Nilforoushan in a Sept. 27 attack on Beirut.

According to the ministry's news agency, Iran's oil minister visited an oil facility on Kharg Island as concerns grow over possible Israeli airstrikes in the region.

Israeli officials have warned that the country is preparing a response after Iran fired a barrage of rockets this week. Iran said the missiles were fired in response to the deaths of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah and Iranian General Abbas Nilforoushan in an attack on Beirut on September 27.

Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad said on state television: “We are not afraid that our enemies will trigger a crisis, and a visit to the region is a normal business trip.”

Kharg Island is home to Iran's largest crude oil export terminal.

On Friday, US President Joe Biden advised Israel against attacking Iranian oil facilities after previously saying he was in “discussions” with Israel about possible airstrikes.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi warned that Iran would respond to Israeli attacks in Iran with a “proportionate and similar response… and even stronger.”

Ireland's president said it was “outrageous” that Israeli forces had “threatened” the UN peacekeeping mission on the Lebanon-Israel border.

But his comments drew the ire of Israel, which responded with a statement from its embassy in Dublin saying it had not threatened the troops but simply urged them to withdraw for their own safety.

“It is outrageous that the Israeli Defense Forces have threatened this peacekeeping force and attempted to force them to evacuate the villages they are defending. In fact, Israel is demanding that the entire Unifil, which operates under UN mandate, resign.” Michael D Higgins said, referring to the 10,000-strong peacekeeping mission.

The embassy said the IDF “has made a request through various channels to withdraw some Unifil troops from areas of military activity for their own protection and security.”

“It should be made clear that the security of peacekeepers is of enormous importance to Israel. Attempting to characterize this as a threat to Unifil forces is another baseless and inflammatory accusation against Israel, as we have seen in recent months.”
