Three injured in two-vehicle collision in Jones County

JONES COUNTY, Miss. (WHLT) – Three people were injured in a two-vehicle crash in Jones County.

The accident occurred just after 5:15 p.m. on Saturday, October 5, near the 3700 block of Sharon Road.

When firefighters arrived on scene, they found a four-door Chevy sedan blocking the roadway and a four-door Toyota sedan traveling down a small embankment on the side of the road.

Jones County Fire Council officials said crews had to use hydraulic equipment to free the driver of the Chevy, who suffered serious injuries. Two other people suffered minor to moderate injuries.

According to officials, the incident appeared to be a staggered head-on collision. A witness said one of the vehicles crossed into oncoming traffic shortly before the accident.

Officers from Jones County and the Mississippi Highway Patrol (MHP) also responded to the scene.
