There's plenty for boxing fans to do before the big day

Fight night is less than a week away. For the first time in nearly 100 years, professional boxing is returning to Durango. On Saturday at approximately 4 p.m., Andrew “Hurricane” Hernandez will fight Jeremy “The Boxer Barber” Ramos for the LBF Middleweight Championship at the La Plata County Fairgrounds.

Before both fighters touch gloves to get the historic main event underway, here's a look at the attractions available to fans leading up to the main event.

Tuesday: Mike Dempsey Meet and Greet

Fans can come to The Good Fight Boxing Gym at 835 Main Ave to meet Mike “Baby Jack” Dempsey at 5:30 p.m

Admission is free with proof of ticket purchase or $10 at the door. Children under eight years of age have free entry. Fans can get autographs, and photos and memorabilia are for sale.

Wednesday: Butterbean Meet and Greet

Fans can meet legendary heavyweight Butterbean at the Good Fight Boxing Gym at 835 Main Ave at 5:30 p.m

Admission is free with proof of ticket purchase or $10 at the door. Children under eight years of age have free entry. Fans can get autographs, and photos and memorabilia are for sale.

Thursday: Press conference meet and greet

There will be a press conference and a meeting with all fighters and prominent guests at Sky Ute Casino. It is free to the public. Autographs, photos and memorabilia are for sale.

Friday: Professional weighing

In another event free to the public, fans can come to the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad to watch the pros weigh in before the fight.

After the weigh-in in the railway museum, there will be an introduction.

Tickets for the upcoming event are available on EventBrite and locally at El Rancho Tavern and Target Rental in Durango and Cortez. General admission for the entire day is $50, less for children 12 and under.
