Christmas in July Euchre Tournament at Brighton Center

COVINGTON, Kentucky – The spirit of Christmas arrived early in the form of icing-covered cookies, Christmas decorations and, of course, Christmas trees as Brighton Center Junior Board Co-Chairs Christina Bryant and Laura Farmwald welcomed guests to the Christmas in July Charity Euchre Tournament.

Bryant says she has the key to victory. While she focused on the game, she revealed her trick: “Watch what everyone else is playing and be consistent with your partner.”

The tournament was not only for fun, but also for a good cause. Instead of charging a registration fee, guests were asked to bring toys for children of all ages so they too could have a fun holiday.

“It’s really just about getting a jump start on our donations this year,” Bryant said.

By starting the fundraising early, gifts will be provided to over 2,000 families in need in the Northern Kentucky region. Farmwald says she can hardly contain her joy when she sees the families' happiness.

Farmwald said, “The joy of the parents when they can come in and shop for their children that they wouldn't otherwise be able to do and take the toys home. And for all of us to be able to be a part of that is just really meaningful and special.”

The Junior Board hosts several events each year to collect donations and gifts and share the many resources the Brighton Center offers.

Reflecting on all that the Brighton Center does for the community, Bryant said, “The Brighton Center has such a presence in Northern Kentucky and does things for people from birth onwards. All the way up to our older generation.”

“I just like how the Brighton Center focuses on customers being able to say what they need, rather than telling people what they need to be self-sufficient,” Farmwald added.

This event, which expresses the spirit of giving, has no real season.
