The Fantastic Four get a new title 3 days before filming begins

Marvel Studios' Fantastic Four The reboot has been given a new name. The Marvel Cinematic Universe is gearing up to finally see the arrival of Marvel's First Family. The MCU's Fantastic Four reboot will be released in 2025, with stars Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn and Ebon Moss-Bachrach already together and about to start filming. Marvel has confirmed when that will be, and also revealed that the Fantastic Four reboot has a new title.

At the San Diego Comic-Con, where Screen Rant is present, Marvel has revealed that The Fantastic Four: First Steps is the new title of the team's MCU debut. Filming for the movie begins on Tuesday.

Marvel Studios also gave a glimpse of the Fantastic Four's Fantasticar flying through Hall H.

The first footage of The Fantastic Four: First Steps was also revealed, with a retro look, as Reed Richards taught a class. The Thing's silhouette could be seen. At the end of the footage, the Fantastic Four are wearing their astronaut uniforms as they board a rocket and fly off. Galactus is seen behind a building, looking just like he does in the comics.

What the new title of the Fantastic Four could mean

Rumors could come true

Long before Pedro Pascal and Vanessa Kirby were cast as Reed Richards and Sue Storm in the MCU, there was an interesting rumor about what their characters' roles would entail that was gaining traction. There were rumors that Reed and Sue would be parents in the Fantastic Four movie. While Marvel has yet to announce that Franklin and Valeria Richards, Reed and Sue's children from the comics, will star in the film, the new title of the Fantastic Four reboot may hint at it.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps is the new title of the film. “First Steps” could be a direct reference to Reed and Sue being parents in the film, with Franklin and Valeria being very young when the team made their MCU debut. Another possible meaning of the Fantastic Four reboot's new title is that the project could serve as the first step for these characters in the MCU. The space race in the film's 1960s setting could also be behind the meaning of the title.

Marvel Studios' panel in Hall H also confirmed that the Fantastic Four will appear in the next two Avengers films. Avengers: Endgame And Avengers: Secret Wars. Robert Downey Jr. will play Doctor Doom, the main villain of the Fantastic Four, in the films. With Doom's entry into the MCU, the Fantastic Four should play an important role in the franchise and The Fantastic Four: First Steps an even more important film.

Fantastic Four (2025)

Marvel's Fantastic Four is the first MCU film to feature Marvel's First Family in the same live-action universe as the Avengers. It introduces the Marvel Cinematic Universe versions of Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Ben Grimm, and Johnny Storm, and precedes Phase 6 with Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars.
