Backstreet is back – and the band has no plans to go anywhere!

The Backstreet Boys, who rose to fame in the mid-1990s with pop hits like “Quit Playin' Games (with My Heart)” and “I Want It That Way,” haven’t taken a break since Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, AJ McLean, Brian Littrell and Kevin Richardson formed the group nearly 30 years ago in 1993.

Last week the boy bands came Christmas in a rather remote areaa Christmas album with winter classics and three original songs written by the group.

“We're going to make music until the end of time,” McLean, 44, tells PEOPLE. “We love what we do and hopefully this Christmas album will stand the test of time.”

As for a new pop studio album to follow their first-ever Christmas compilation, he adds: “Who knows? I'm sure we'll be making new contemporary music in the years to come.”

The Backstreet Boys are currently on the European leg of their DNA World Tour, which is scheduled to run until March 2023 – and the five-piece band still sings and dances simultaneously from start to finish, just like they did in the '90s.

“The music combined with the dancing and singing live, we are in some ways the last of our kind,” Carter, 42, tells PEOPLE. “So it's important that we leave people happy and with a sense of nostalgia every time we step on stage.”

But now that they're all in their 40s (except Richardson, 51) and all fathers, not every BSB move is an exact copy of when they were teenage heartthrob.

“There are definitely certain moves we took from the show where we drop to our knees or do kip-ups or all kinds of gymnastic things that you physically can't do anymore,” McLean explains.

Still, he adds: “Because we are showmen, because we are performers and singers first and foremost, we love to put on a great show. And we will continue to dance and do what we do until we are physically unable to do it anymore.”

And of course, no BSB show would be complete without the iconic “Thriller”-inspired choreography performed during the band’s 1997 hit single “Everybody.”

“There are also certain movements that you just have to bring back – that the fans really crave and want,” says McLean.

“If we hadn’t done that, [hands in] “Backstreet is back,” the fans should be damn disappointed. If we hadn’t done the hat number on “All I Have to Give,” the fans should be disappointed. There are just certain things that we simplified or that we still do [the choreography] just like the original 30 years ago,” adds McLean.

Going into their 30th year as a band, McLean jokes, “There are no limits. We've talked vaguely about doing another album. We've talked about coming back to Vegas for a much longer stay, residency-wise. And if that happens, we'll have time to record another album while we're in Vegas or in our spare time. Or we might just put out singles, it's kind of a singles market too. We don't necessarily have to have a full LP, but who knows?”

Christmas in a rather remote area is currently available to purchase or stream.
