Christmas in July 2024 a complete success

It was certainly cold enough to have a white Christmas in July, but even without snowflakes, the mulled wine and good cheer of all those who attended Big 5 Guest House's eighth annual Christmas in July event were kept warm by cheer, exceptional stalls and food – if you weren't there, you definitely missed out.

Shaun Kiley and Henk Booyens.

The annual event took place on Saturday 6th July at the Guest House on Woltemade Street. The festivities could be heard throughout the neighbourhood. With a live band playing under the trees, delicious food and a range of tasty drinks on offer, everyone's joie de vivre made it truly feel like the merriest season of all and gave everyone the boost they needed for the next six months until the real Christmas is just around the corner.

The crowd enjoys the live music in the tea garden.

“The day was fantastic! I will definitely go again. It's a wonderful event to bring your children to,” said Palesa Nhlapho.

The stalls sold everything from unique handmade gifts to incredible organic honey and if you didn't happen to find anything you wanted to buy, the weather was absolutely perfect for enjoying the Long Dog Gin or beer, expertly hand brewed by the guesthouse owners.

A lot of effort has gone into turning an ordinary July day into a Christmas wonderland for all to enjoy. And if you need help, one of the elves will be happy to help you. This is an event you don't want to miss. And if you're one of the unlucky ones who didn't make it, don't miss it next year.

“Christmas in July 2024 was a great success and everyone enjoyed it very much. We would like to thank the community for their support. Our team at Anelli's Tea Garden and Big5 Guest House did an excellent job in the preparation and on the day of the event. We look forward to next year. Save the date for July 5, 2025,” was the closing remarks from host Anel Kiley.
