State of Tennessee is looking for its next Christmas tree for the Capitol

The Tennessee Department of General Services and the Office of the Governor are calling on Tennessee residents to help find the perfect Christmas tree for the State Capitol and to contribute ornaments for the decoration.

The state is looking for a spruce (or similar) with a height between 30 and 40
foot high to serve as the Capitol's Christmas tree this year. Residents who wish

In addition to the tree search, the state invites Tennessee citizens to donate ornaments
symbolic of Tennessee or their local community to decorate the Capitol Christmas
Tree.

Those interested in donating an ornament should provide the following:

• Individual or group name
• Postal address
• E-mail address
• A brief description of the ornament and its meaning

Tennessee residents may mail their jewelry and this information to:

Although not all ornaments can be used this year, the state is keeping donations for
potential use in subsequent years.

The selected tree will be lit by Governor Lee during the annual Christmas celebration.

Monday, December 2nd, after Thanksgiving.
