Morrisons customers can't believe it when they discover the “best Christmas must-have ever” on the shelves

MORRISONS customers were speechless when they discovered an essential Christmas product on supermarket shelves five months before the Christmas season.

A customer who runs a food review site found mince pies in the supermarket and shared the news on social media.

The shopper took a photo of the signature Christmas treat on sale at the major supermarket and wrote on Newfoodsuk's Facebook page: “Mince pies are back at Morrisons!!”

The box, which contains six shortcrust mince pies, costs £1.75.

Although the customer did not specify which supermarket he visited, the discovery elicited mixed reactions from other shoppers.

One avid mince pies lover called the treat “the best ever” and another said the supermarket’s traditional sweet pies were “delicious.”

Someone else commented: “These are the only mince pies I eat. They are delicious. When they bring out these bad boys you know Christmas is just around the corner.”

Another added: “They are so LUSTY. One cup of tea is never enough.”

And another said: “To be honest, these are by far THE best mince pies.”

However, some people expressed confusion and said it was too early for mince pies as Christmas was still five months away.

Someone wrote: “You are making fun of me!

“When it comes to food, pay attention to the seasons rather than rushing through them.

“Time passes far too quickly anyway.”

Another shopper agreed and said, “It’s July!”

One commented on Facebook: “Too early. Not acceptable before October or I'll be sick of them by Christmas. Lol”

Some people agreed that it was too early, but argued that we should make it normal to eat mince pies all year round.

Someone said, “Yes, yes, yes! Why are these only made at Christmas? I love them all year round!!”

And another added: “Eating them with some ice cream makes them seem less Christmassy! Can't wait!! x”

We checked other supermarkets and found that mince pies are currently sold out at Sainsbury's, Tesco, Asda and Aldi.

How to save money when shopping at the supermarket

There are many ways to save money when shopping for groceries.

Look for yellow or red stickers on the products that alert you to reduced prices.

If the food is fresh, you need to eat it quickly or freeze it for another time.

Making a list should also save you money because you'll be less likely to make hasty purchases at the grocery store.

Plus, switching to own brand can easily save you hundreds of pounds a year on your grocery bills.

This means that we avoid the “finest” or “luxury” products and instead focus on “own” or “value” type product lines.

Many supermarkets offer special offers on deformed and defective fruits and vegetables, which you can get at low prices.

Lidl, for example, offers 5kg boxes of fruit and vegetables for just £1.50 as part of its “Waste Not” program.

If you are on a low income and are a parent, you may be able to get Healthy Start vouchers worth up to £442 a year, which you can also spend at the supermarket.

In addition, many municipalities offer supermarket vouchers as part of the household support fund.

The mince pies were spotted on supermarket shelves just days after foodies found containers of Celebrations and Quality Street at their local Morrisons.

The anonymous food blogger told Newfoodsuk: “Spotted at Morrisons today! The holidays are just around the corner!”

Foodies in the post poked fun at the retailer's decision to include the festive treats in their range.

One commented: “5 months, lol,” while another welcomed the decision: “Well, with today's weather it felt like it!”

Another user agreed: “We might as well start preparing for Christmas. This summer has sucked.”

Earlier this month, Quality Street chocolate tubs were spotted stacked on a wooden pallet at Tesco's Newmarket store, perfect for sharing this Christmas.

Although it's still a long way from time to hang up the stockings, one shopper pointed out that they make perfect end-of-school-year gifts.

In a Facebook post, the buyer commented: “Quality Street is in charge of end of year teacher gifts.”
