Twitter reacts to Melania Trump's new Christmas tree photos

It's (almost) the most wonderful time of the year! But for Melania Trump, who will be leaving the White House in January with her husband Donald after he failed to win a second term as President of the United States, Christmas has never been easy. Or has it? Well, at least decorating for it…

Just to recap (for anyone who missed it), in October a voice recording of Melania was leaked in which she ranted about having to spend a lot of time sprucing up her huge house for the holidays—and of course, people weren't particularly, er, happy about it.

“I say I'm working on Christmas, doing Christmas planning, and they say, 'Oh, what about the kids?' That they've been separated,” she is heard saying as she talks about decorating and the detained children. “I work my ass off on Christmas stuff. You know, who cares about Christmas stuff and decorating? But I have to do it right?”

Now the actual tree has arrived at the White House and of course there is a lot to say on Twitter about the new photos of Melania and the tree in question:

Melania's own account also commented on the tree's arrival, saying: “Today I welcomed the arrival of the beautiful Christmas tree at the @WhiteHouse! We're excited to start decorating the People's House for the holiday season! #WHChristmas.”

But not everyone agreed with her cheerful tweet. A social media titled the pictures, 'PHOTO: Melania Trump celebrates the arrival of the official Who Gives a F***About Christmas tree' (and easily collected 12,000 likes). Another wrote“Melania Trump HATES Christmas. That's it. That's the tweet.”

Many also took the opportunity to tweet jokingly about the lackluster decoration:

Some also recalled Melania's festive efforts from previous years, where she opted for a deep red color scheme in one of those years. One person wrote“Remember the carnage Melania caused at the White House on Christmas? Everything looked like a Red Rum scene? That was worse.” Others pointed out that she was not wearing a protective mask to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

However, there were of course also Trump supporters who had a lot of positive things to say about Melania and the photos of her tree delivery. wrote“FLOTUS welcomed Christmas to the White House this morning. So proud of our First Lady Melania. Our First Lady is absolutely stunning and she loves Christmas… 4 more years.” (which, to be honest, is a bit confusing since there really won't be another four years of Trumps… Donald Trump has now accepted that the formal transition should begin so Biden can take office).

To be fair to Melania's critics, she hasn't decorated the newly delivered White House Christmas tree yet. Maybe she'll come up with something so stunning that everyone will have to take back their words? We can't wait to see it.
