Strictly's Katya Jones and husband Neil spend time apart after Christmas

Be sure to come and dance'S Katja Jones and you Husband Neil enjoyed a magical Christmas together, but to ensure they spent time with their respective loved ones, they continued the festivities in other countries. Katya stayed in St Petersburg to spend time with her family, while Neil – who went to Russia – with his wife on Christmas Day – returned to London. On Instagram Stories, Katya shared videos from her weekend, including shots of her young nieces and a clip of her mum showing off her own dance moves at a party. The professional dancer also treated her family to her incredible piano skills at her parents' house, which were filmed on her mum's Instagram account. Sweetly, Katya's mum and dad framed a photo of their daughter and Neil and placed the piano centre stage.

Neil, meanwhile, enjoyed an evening in London on Saturday to celebrate his Strictly co-star Greg Frost's birthday. Greg works as the show's floor manager and can often be seen in the show's behind-the-scenes clips as he prepares the dancers and their celebrity partners for the live show each week. Greg and Neil have also joked that they often get mistaken for each other because they both have red hair.

There is no doubt that after a few days away, Katya and Neil will be looking forward to being reunited for the start of the New Year – and it will be anything but boring for them! The dancers will play the main characters of Somnium: A dancer's dreamwhich is described as an “explosive dance show” and depicts “a complicated modern love story”. Katya and Neil will dance in the show at London's Sadler's Wells over three dates in June. Neil directed and choreographed the show based on their lives and in a joint statement the couple said: “We all know that life and love are not perfect and as much as we would like to say that our journey together has been perfect, you will get to witness first-hand the true struggles of our lives together on the road to becoming world champions.”

Neil Jones flew back to London to attend his Strictly co-star's party

The show tells the story of a boy from the UK and a girl from Russia who met, fell in love and overcame all odds to become dancing stars. The official synopsis reads: “Starring real-life couple Neil and Katya Jones and a troupe of dancers, the show features vibrant storytelling and sensational Latin and ballroom choreography. It also depicts a complicated modern love story and shows that the road of love is not always smooth.”

Katya and Neil's relationship hit headlines in October after Katya was caught kissing her celebrity dance partner Seann Walsh on a night out in London. Neil stood defiantly by his wifewhile Katya called it a “one-time mistake.” After the news broke, Katya wrote on Twitter: “I love my husband and we are very happy together. This is not meant to reflect badly on our relationship.”
