On January 31, the makers of Karnan had confirmed that the film, starring Dhanush in the lead role, will be released worldwide in April 2021. However, the exact release date of the film was not mentioned. On February 14, the makers not only announced the exact release date but even shared the first look at KarnanDirected by Mari Selvaraj, the film is scheduled to hit the big screens on April 9, 2021. The brand new poster from Karnan shows superstar Dhanush in an intense avatar. He is handcuffed and wounded. The upper right side of his forehead is bleeding, as are his fists. Anger but also pain can be seen in his eyes. The background of the poster also shows many villagers.
