Christmas chocolate from Nestlé and Mars spotted at Asda

Last week, Nestlé announced that it is bringing back its discontinued Caramac chocolate bar after it was discontinued in November 2023 after more than 60 years.

Now chocolate fans can expect another surprise: the Christmas treats are already available in British supermarkets.

Several festive treats from confectionery makers such as Nestlé and Mars have already been spotted at Asda, causing excitement but also confusion among fans.

“A little early for Christmas, but delicious” – mixed feelings after early release of Christmas chocolate

The Facebook group Newfoodsuk has discovered three Christmas chocolates in Asda stores across the UK:

  • M&M's Crispy Santa Chocolate Bars
  • Mint Maltesers Reindeer
  • Nestlé Milky Bar Festive Friends

The launch of these festive treats left shoppers with mixed feelings – excited to see some of their favourite chocolate bars back in stock, but annoyed to see them back on the market so early.

One shopper commented on a post by Newfoodsuk on Facebook, saying: “Sorry if I sound grinch… it’s already July!!!”

Another person added: “Lol I saw these and assumed they were from last year before I looked at the packaging.”

A third member commented: “Yeah, lol. Stores get on my nerves every year by bringing out their Christmas stuff too early. It spoils the fun.”

This person said: “A bit early for Christmas, but delicious!!!”

And a fifth user joked: “Poundland has Mariah in the CD player ready to warm up…”

While some feel that these festive treats have hit supermarket shelves far too early, others are already rushing to their nearest Asda in the hope of securing some of these Christmas treats.

When this shopper saw the returning M&M Santa Bars, he commented, “I’m going to buy the box.”

Another added: “Definitely have to pay a fine [sic] this.”

LITERATURE RECOMMENDATIONS:

The return of these festive treats comes just weeks after Mars Wrigley confirmed it would be reducing the size of another popular Christmas chocolate – Celebrations.

Celebrations' larger 600g cups were reduced in size to 550g just months before Christmas 2024 to “absorb rising raw material and operating costs”.
