In the church of Saint-Martin in Longjumeau

  • Visit to St. Martin's Church – exhibition on church history
    Sunday, September 22, 2:00 p.m.

    Guided tour of the Saint-Martin church, built in 1250 by the master builder Hugues Piedoie on the site of a Merovingian church. During the Hundred Years' War, the church was burned down by the troops of Edward III. It was restored in the 15th century with funds from the Gaillard family, lords of Longjumeau. The bell tower was burned down in the 18th century and restored in 1774. During the French Revolution, Saint-Martin became a temple of reason.

  • Exhibition “Longjumeau, 1944, the breath of freedom”

    To mark the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Longjumeau, the Ville de Longjumeau, with the participation of a Longjumellois collector and the Renaissance and Culture Association, invites you to visit the exhibition “Longjumeau, 1944, le souffle de la Liberté” (Longjumeau, 1944, the breath of freedom). The exhibition presents everyday and military objects from the period, as well as an exhibition on the 2nd DB, which entered the town on the morning of August 24, 1944 to liberate Longjumeau.
