Will Ferrell's Christmas film Spirited – The Beast challenges Elf in the stupidest way

Will Ferrell is already the king of Christmas movies after starring in one of the most iconic Christmas films of all time in 2003. ElevenBut since he knows that the best way to spread Christmas cheer is to sing loudly so everyone can hear, he is back with his new film musical Spirited.

The modern view of A Christmas song Ferrell plays the ghost of this year's Christmas, who chooses the wrong Scrooge (Ryan Reynolds) to redeem him. There is also a hilarious and brutally honest reference to ElevenWhile Reynolds plays the gruff, egotistical and Scrooge-like Clint Briggs, it is Ferrell who Eleven in a stupid cotton-head kind of way. (Mild spoilers ahead.)

After Clint turns the tables on the Ghost of This Year's Christmas and makes him rethink his own past, present and future, the ghost decides to accept his “retirement package” and return to mortal life. He wakes up in the real world and attends Clint's Christmas party. After realizing that he will have to get used to other people seeing and hearing him again – and that he must not run into inanimate objects since he is a real person and no longer a ghost – he encounters a party guest wearing a very familiar elf costume. In fact, it is an exact replica of his Buddy costume in Eleven.

As the elf helps him up after he runs into a pillar, Ferrell's character takes a close look at his costume and tells the party guest, “You look stupid.” Briggs intervenes before the two men get into a fight, and as he leads the ghost of this year's Christmas away, he simply repeats, “He looks stupid.”
