The plot of the Christmas special of Call the Midwife has not yet been announced, but some details have been shared on the show's social media account.

The special broadcast takes place at Christmas 1969 and is therefore the last time in the sixties, because the upcoming 14th season takes the story into the seventies.

As is typical of Call the Midwife's festive specials, the episode is set over the Christmas period, and another behind-the-scenes photo shows Millicent (Glen) preparing a huge batch of sprouts for a meal that will feature in the episode. Another set photo reveals that several characters will visit a funfair in Poplar.

Another behind-the-scenes photo revealed that the special will see Dr. Turner (McGann) and the midwives care for a baby who comes to Nonnatus House with “very specific medical issues.” Although the details are being kept under wraps, it seems the team have a lot of work ahead of them.

The BBC has not yet released a trailer for the Call the Midwife 2024 Christmas special, but it is likely that a preview will be released closer to the release, so fans can expect a trailer in either November or December.

Call the Midwife returns with a Christmas special on BBC One in 2024, with season 14 being released in 2025.
