Matt Willis talks about the ups and downs of his marriage to Emma

Power couple Matt and Emma Willis spoke openly about their relationship before the moderation Love is blind: United Kingdom.

In an open conversation with Preferably Busted star Matt, 41, gave an insight into their 16-year marriage and talked about their “ups and downs” in an interview with Busted magazine.

“We have been married for 16 years now and there have been many ups and downs, but it is always worth the work,” he said.

“It’s about being open and honest with each other, because if you hold on to something, something else will come out of it eventually.”

Reflecting on the key to marital happiness, Emma, ​​48, shared some words of wisdom, stressing the importance of patience and communication. “Get ready to work hard,” she said. “Patience, give and take and the ability to communicate are key.”

The couple, who married in 2008 at Ruston Hall in Northamptonshire, have been incredibly open in recent years about their relationship and how it was affected by Matt's drug and alcohol addictions and his involvement with Scientology.

“Before I knew it, the next week I was standing outside the doors of the Scientology building. Every single day I went there. I bought different books and took different courses. I was there.”

“They said, ‘There’s someone in your life that’s really draining you, that’s a negative force, and that’s usually the person closest to you.’ And it’s like, ‘I think they’re trying to take my [expletive] Marriage now up'.

“They tried to force this strange opinion on me. When I look back, I thought, 'Are you trying to isolate me from everyone else?'”

Matt then released a BBC1 documentary entitled Matt Willis: Fighting addiction In addition to Matt's personal experiences, the book also examined the scientific aspects of addiction in more detail.

Emma gave her followers on Instagram a glimpse into their journey together, saying: “It was hard reliving that time in our lives, but it was also incredibly cathartic to talk about those dark days. As humans, we are all imperfect and we shouldn't feel like we have to hide certain parts of ourselves to be loved. Ultimately, it was our love and hard work that got us to where we are now.”

In 2018, the couple decided to renew their wedding vows in honor of their tenth anniversary. They celebrated with their loved ones – including their three children Isabelle, Ace and Trixie.

The ceremony was attended by a number of celebrities, including Rochelle Humes and her husband Marvin, and Tom and Giovanna Fletcher. Stephen Mulhern officiated the ceremony, while McFly performed at Matt and Emma's lavish reception.
