Local parents form new recreational soccer league in Scottsdale

The Nexus Youth Soccer League (NYSL), founded by Scottsdale parents Kenna and RJ Watters, has announced the launch of its new, non-coed, high-level youth recreational soccer league designed specifically for girls and boys in grades 3-8 who play multiple sports.

“The goal of the Nexus Youth Soccer League is to bridge the opportunity gap between recreational and club soccer programs,” a press release states, “by providing a competitive and fun environment without the high costs and time commitment typically associated with club soccer.”

The Watters said they believe their program will bring the “fun” back to youth soccer while creating a competitive environment by encouraging players to learn the sport at a more intense level than traditional recreational soccer programs.

“With one practice per week and one game every Saturday, this Scottsdale youth soccer league provides a balanced approach that fits into families' busy schedules,” the press release continues.

“Kenna and I were both multi-sport athletes growing up. We know that every activity or sport a child participates in during their childhood helps develop a multi-faceted character with all these different experiences and memories,” RJ added.

Registration for the Scottsdale, Arcadia and Biltmore area fall soccer league is open until August 31. Parents and players interested in participating can visit nexusysl.com to register and learn more about the Nexus Youth Soccer League.
