Heritage Days 2024: Tour of the National Academy of Surgery

This year's Journées du Patrimoine 2024 will take place on September 21 and 22. This is an opportunity to discover places that open their doors especially for this event, such as the Académie Nationale de la Chirurgie in the 6th arrondissement of Paris.

The Heritage Travel 2024which take place this year on 21 and 22 September, allow the public to discover monuments, museums and historical sites that are often closed during the rest of the year, for free or at a reduced price. Launched in France in 1984, the initiative has since spread throughout Europe and promotes the discovery and preservation of cultural heritage.

The Heritage Days 2024 are the perfect opportunity to delve into the heart of France’s medical past on a guided tour of theAcadémie Nationale de Surgery. In the heart of Paris Located in the 6th arrondissement, this emblematic institution opens its doors to the general public to reveal its hidden treasures. Founded in 1731 as the “Société Royale de Chirurgie” by Georges Mareschal, surgeon to King Louis XV, the Academy is a place steeped in history where generations of surgeons have left their mark on the history of medicine. Today, it promotes and supports surgical research in France, in particular by awarding prizes and awards for contributions to the field.
