Kings not listed on NBA schedule for Christmas Day 2024

The NBA has released the Christmas games for the 2024-25 season and once again the Sacramento Kings have been removed from the list.

After an exciting 2022-23 season and a growing rivalry with the Golden State Warriors, it seemed like the Kings would finally be able to face each other on basketball's biggest day. Instead, the association scheduled the Warriors to play the Denver Nuggets last year and the Los Angeles Lakers next season.

The Kings have only played on Christmas Day twice during the Sacramento era, in 2002 and 2003.

This marks 21 consecutive seasons where they have not been on the holiday schedule. During that time, the Kings are one of two teams that do not play on December 25. The only other team not on the schedule is the Charlotte Hornets.

Meanwhile, the Lakers will be playing on Christmas Day for the 26th consecutive year. For the Boston Celtics and Warriors, it will be their 14th appearance in the last 21 years.

It's no surprise that the teams with the big markets get the games with the big markets. What's interesting, however, is that every team except the Kings and Hornets got at least one chance to play on basketball's biggest day.

All I want for Christmas is for the Kings to receive recognition across the league.
