Sydney Sweeney says “Madame Web” and “Anyone but You” are the perfect double act for Valentine’s Day

If you want to see your daily dose of Sydney Sweeney movies this Valentine's Day, look no further than your local cinema – the star just hit theaters with Madame Web and a special re-release of Anyone but You.

Since its holiday debut, the R-rated romantic comedy starring Sweeney and Glen Powell has grossed over $170 million worldwide and continues in theaters with The Valentine's Encore.

“I just want to thank everybody who loved it as much as we enjoyed making it,” Sweeney said at the premiere of “Madame Web” on Monday night. “People want to have something that brings everyone together, where they can laugh and cry, where they can sing and dance and just have that shared feeling of joy. It was overwhelming and incredible.”

The special edition re-release will include four minutes of bonus material. “We've added a few little things here and there in case people want to come back and see some secret stuff,” Sweeney revealed, adding: “It's the perfect double feature.”

In Sony and Marvel's Madame Web, Sweeney plays Julia Carpenter, one of three teenagers (Isabela Merced and Celeste O'Connor) destined to become superheroes – provided Dakota Johnson's Cassandra Web, a paramedic who discovers she is psychic, can protect them while they are hunted by a deadly adversary. The SJ Clarkson-directed film is expected to gross $22 million to $25 million over President's Day weekend. At the premiere, Sweeney also expressed her hope that audiences, especially young women, will be infected by its empowering message.

“You can choose your friends and family. You can gain power without having supernatural powers. And you can do anything you set your mind to,” Sweeney said.
