OKC Thunder fans outraged over missing Christmas Day game

Yesterday, OKC Thunder fans expressed their frustration on X over their team not playing on Christmas Day.

Last season, the Oklahoma City Thunder were the number one seed in the Western Conference, led by MVP candidate Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Coaches Award winner Mark Daigneault. With such an impressive track record, fans assumed they would see their team play in the most coveted regular season game of the year.

Unfortunately, that was not the case. Usually, the most notable and/or successful teams are chosen to play on Christmas Day, so many Thunder fans were left with a lot of questions and emotions about why the youngest team to ever finish first in NBA history was not included and what it will take to make it next year.

The last time the Thunder played on Christmas Day was in 2018. For reference, Russell Westbrook, Paul George and Steven Adams were still on the team then.

According to Shams Charania, the lineup for the 2024–25 season is as follows:

Spurs at Knicks, Timberwolves at Mavericks, 76ers at Celtics, Lakers at Warriors and Nuggets at Suns.

Hopefully the OKC Thunder will be selected to play on Christmas Day in the 2025–26 season.
