Fans are beside themselves with excitement as the fourth Bridget Jones film hits theaters

The countdown to the highly anticipated return of Renée Zellweger's lovable, bumbling character Bridget Jones to the big screen has begun.

The cast was recently photographed filming the fourth installment of the series on the streets of London. After a few incidents, filming has now officially wrapped.

On Friday, the film's production company, Working Title, shared the important update on X and sent its fans into a frenzy with the announcement of the release date.

Working Title shared a snapshot of two camera angles and a director's chair with the words “Bridget Jones” written on it and wrote: “That's it. See you on Valentine's Day.”

One X user admitted they were “excited already,” while another joked about the Valentine's Day release date: “Wait… are you asking me out?”

It's good news that filming on the fourth Bridget Jones movie has been completed after production reportedly didn't go entirely smoothly.

Just weeks after the “accident” occurred and a cast member was injured on set, The Sun reported that the film's shooting schedule had rubbed off on some A-list celebrities.

Numerous well-known faces are said to have been instructed to either restrict their freedom of movement or leave their properties altogether in order not to disrupt production.

A source told the publication: “Neighbourhoods where stars like Harry Styles, Rami Malek, Ricky Gervais and Rowan Atkinson live are all receiving letters from production asking them not to interrupt filming.”

“The letters informed them of filming times and asked them to either leave their homes during that time or not to come and go at certain times,” the source continued.

“It's like they're being held hostage by Bridget and it's driving everyone crazy.”

The fourth film in the series is officially titled “Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy”, based on Helen Fielding's 2013 novel of the same name, in which she is seen as a single mother of two children in her fifties.

Following the death of her husband Mark, Bridget takes a brief break from the world of romance but then returns with a bang by trying her hand at dating apps. One Day star Leo Woodall has been cast in the role of her much younger lover, named Rockstar.

You're right, though, it wouldn't be a Bridget Jones movie without a love triangle, and now we know that Hugh Grant will reprise his role as sweet womanizer Daniel Cleaver.

The successful publisher did not appear in the third installment of the series, as he was believed to be dead. However, at the end of the film, a newspaper reported that he had been found alive, which gave him an opportunity to re-enter the plot in the final film.

Has the time away from civilization changed his view of love or will Daniel Cleaver fall back into his old womanizer ways?
