Bridget Jones – There's Something About the Boy

The fourth part of the Bridget Jones series, “Bridget Jones: There’s Something About the Boy,” is scheduled to be released on Valentine’s Day 2025.

The sequel features the return of some familiar faces, including Renée Zellweger in the title role, as well as Hugh Grant and Emma Thompson.

Production of the highly anticipated sequel has been underway for some time now and filming has now officially been completed.

The announcement was made by the production company Working Title Films.

“That's it. See you on Valentine's Day,” they said.

The upcoming film is based on the book series by Helen Fielding, particularly the 2013 novel, and follows the events of “Bridget Jones' Baby”.

In the third part, Bridget marries Mark (Colin Firth) – a happy ending for her – while Daniel (Grant) presumably dies in a plane crash.

In Bridget Jones: There's Something About the Boy, Bridget's luck takes a turn, and not for the better, as she is a recent widow and must once again enter the dating scene. Bridget is in her early fifties and trying to juggle the modern complexities of life, work and being a single mother. She will continue her serious search for love, and we are all here to help her along the way.

Michael Morris directed the film from a screenplay by franchise writers Fielding, Abi Morgan and Dan Mazer.

In addition to Zellweger, Grant and Thompson reprising their roles, the upcoming film will also feature new faces including Chiwetel Ejiofor, Isla Fisher and Leo Woodall. Other returning cast members include Celia Imrie, Neil Pearson and Joanna Scanlan.

The list expands to include Sarah Solemani, James Callis, Sally Phillips and Shirley Henderson as Bridget's close friends. Her parents are again played by Jim Broadbent and Gemma Jones.

The exact plot details of Bridget Jones: There's Something About the Boy remain under wraps. There's watertight information beyond what we know from the novel, and the character details remain a mystery to newcomers.

Last month, returning star Grant gave a glimpse of what's to come. “It's about raising two kids on your own and then [it’s] everything mixed in the Bridget Jones [style] “It's a comedy, so it's both very sad and very funny,” Grant said. “It brings tears to my eyes.”

Bridget Jones: There's Something About the Boy will be released on Valentine's Day, February 14, 2025, on Peacock in the US and will be released in cinemas worldwide on the same day.
