Olympic Games in Paris: Jennifer Valente wins gold for the USA in the women's omnium

Reigning Olympic and UCI World Champion Jennifer Valente of the USA secured the gold medal in the final cycling race of the Olympic Games in Paris on Sunday. Just four days earlier, Valente had also won gold in the women's team pursuit.

The American demonstrated her dominance in the first three events of the women's omnium, winning the scratch race and elimination race and securing second place in the speed race. Before the decisive points race, she had collected 118 points, 10 more than Australia's Georgia Baker and 22 more than Canada's Maggie Coles-Lyster.
