Before turning to modern pentathlon, she trained swimming at a high level. Élodie Clouvel was also world champion in the mixed relay in 2013 and 2017, in a duet with her partner Valentin Belaud. Her career has been marked by her versatility, making her one of the best French pentathletes of her generation, as she proved today by winning the silver medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

As a reminder: The modern pentathlon comprises five disciplines: Fencing, swimming (200 metres), horse riding (show jumping) and a combination of pistol shooting and running (3,200 metres). Athletes collect points in each discipline. The starting order for the final race is determined by the points scored in the previous disciplines and the first to cross the finish line wins the pentathlon. The pentathlon ended with a Laser running, a 3 km long shooting competition in which Elodie Clouvel lost against Hungary Michelle Gulyaswho now holds the new Olympic record. The Silver medal is a great victory for the athlete who finished 6th at the 2020 Tokyo Games.
