Hugh Jackman's cancer returns

Hugh Jackman has urged his fans to protect their skin and use sunscreen after having another cancer cell removed from his nose.

The 48-year-old took to Instagram to spread his message, sharing a photo of his heavily bandaged nose, adding that the bandage made it look “worse” than it actually was.

“Another basal cell carcinoma. Everything is fine thanks to frequent physicals and great doctors. Looks worse with bandages than without. I swear! #wearsunscreen,” Hugh captioned the snap.

On Valentine's Day, the Australian actor was spotted walking his dogs with his nose still protected by the bandage.

This is the sixth time the father of two has been treated for cancer. In 2013, he had a small pimple on his nose examined for the first time at the request of his wife Deborra-Lee Furness, with whom he has been married for twenty years.

“Deb told me to get the spot on my nose checked. And she was right! I had basal cell carcinoma. Please don't be stupid like me. Get checked. And USE sunscreen!!!” Hugh tweeted at the time of the initial discovery.

Basal cell carcinoma is a mild form of cancer. Although it is still a serious condition, it is usually not as dangerous as melanoma.

Hugh has since shared numerous photos of his bandaged nose after surgery to remove it, always urging his followers to use sun protection.

The Logan The star had previously revealed that he had four skin cancers removed in 18 months, with doctors warning him that more were likely to follow in the future.

Shortly afterwards, a fifth cell was removed from him again.

In an interview in 2014, the father of two said that although he continued to assess his health as positive, he underwent regular check-ups to ensure that the situation did not worsen.

“I'm realistic about the future and it's more than likely that I'll have at least one more, but probably a lot more, which is not unusual for an Australian, especially one of English descent and raised in Australia. I don't remember ever being told to put on sunscreen,” he said at the time.

“The nice thing is that all of this is preventable. You just have to get yourself properly examined. I can be a completely normal man, I didn't feel like it and now I'm not lazy at all.”
