Singaporean dating apps get creative: Promise a different Valentine's Day this year

Every year on February 14, couples around the world celebrate Valentine's Day. The history of Valentine's Day dates back to the 18th century, when it evolved into an occasion for lovers to express their love for each other by giving flowers, offering candy, and sending greeting cards (known as “Valentines”).

Today, with the advancement of technology, there are many interesting products and services that can spice up your Valentine's Day.

Here are some that caught our eye:

1. Mobile dating app Paktor cooperates with private chauffeur service Uber

The highly successful mobile dating app Paktor has partnered with Uber to offer its users free limousine rides from Singapore, Taipei, Manila, Kuala Lumpur, Tokyo, Bangalore and Seoul. Users can use Uber and celebrate Valentine's Day in style.

Just download the Paktor app and look for the promo code in the news section. Once you do that, you can enjoy free Uber rides by requesting them through the Uber app until the end of February.

Be careful though, the code is only valid for new Uber users.

2.1. Pairing mobile app between partners with Tarad

South Korean couple app Between has announced that it has partnered with Thai e-commerce platform Tarad to offer its users 20 items specifically for couples. The prices of these items are also discounted. The items include couple rings, a Hello Kitty bouquet and watches.

Don't know Between? You can think of it as the WhatsApp for couples. Couples can sync their Between accounts and chat with each other on a daily basis. Other features of Between include sharing moments as well as sharing photos with your better half. To date, it has been downloaded over 5 million times by couples around the world.

2.2. Between partners with Straits Times

Outside of Thailand, Between is also working with The Straits Times to publish dating tips in Singapore's largest newspaper. In return for the feature on The Straits Times' online site, Between will help collate couples' stories from its growing number of users in Singapore and feature them on the site.

Lovers in Singapore can submit a paragraph about the most romantic thing someone has done for them and stand a chance to win attractive prizes this Valentine's Day.

3. LoveOutLoud matches single ladies with suitable bachelors

Perhaps most interestingly, dating app LoveOutLoud has teamed up with Dressing Lolita, Edit. & Timbre @ Gillman for a dinner date this Valentine's Day. Single ladies can choose a date from 5 eligible bachelors, a dress from Dressing Lolita, and a dinner of their choice at Timbre @ Gillman!

LoveOutLoud told Vulcan Post that she “are satisfied with the number of participants and would like to work with other retailers and food retailers for future events with a similar concept.“.

To view the campaign or pictures of some of Singapore's most eligible bachelors, you can visit the website.

4. LoveByte releases vouchers, new sticker packs and new gifts for couples

Singapore-developed couples app LoveByte also has a number of surprises and updates in store for its users. Its POPUP eStore features cute couples items and gifts that couples can get for each other. In addition, it has launched a new Valentine's Day sticker pack exclusively with FMCG giant Cerebos, the company behind Brand's Chicken Essence and Brand's InnerShine. And finally, the LoveByte team has created love coupons that you can print out and write anything you want on, and your better half can redeem them as a reward.

Pretty creative?
