Kim Bo Ra talks about her upcoming crime thriller drama “Black Out”

Kim Bo Ra has talked about her role in the upcoming drama “Black Out”!

Based on the German bestseller “Snow White Must Die,” “Black Out” is a crime drama that tells the story of Go Jung Woo (Byun Yo Han), a young man accused of murder in a mysterious case in which no bodies were found. 11 years later, he embarks on a journey to uncover the truth about that fateful day.

Kim Bo Ra plays the role of Ha Seol, a newcomer to Go Jung Woo's hometown of Mucheon City. Ha Seol is surprised and intrigued when she learns that one of her colleagues at the restaurant where she works part-time has a son who is a convicted murderer. Driven by curiosity, she begins to investigate the murders from 11 years ago – and as an outsider, her objective point of view eventually helps Go Jung Woo in his own search for the truth.

Kim Bo Ra, who is considered a big fan of crime dramas, recalls, “Since I often watch crime investigation programs, I immediately felt connected to the project when I received the offer.” She adds, “Ha Seol lives in Mucheon City, but is also the only outsider. I was taken with her character, who looks at incidents more objectively and is naturally curious about them.”

Kim Bo Ra continued, “When I lived in the village, Ha Seol's habit of snooping around in things whenever she became suspicious made me think of her as a 'sweet busybody.' Her warm personality, her friendly and unbiased way of dealing with everyone in the village, and her willingness to help people she didn't even know left a very warm impression on me.”

Ha Seol is a character who rides around freely on her scooter, although the entire village becomes tense and suspicious of the others after Go Jung Woo's sudden return. Kim Bo Ra commented on the character's carefree personality, “Since Ha Seol is free-spirited, like a cat leisurely walking through a minefield, I felt it was important for her to interact with the villagers without prejudice.” She explained that for this reason, she did not delve deeply into the backstories or situations of the other characters in the drama.

Finally, Kim Bo Ra expressed her affection for her fellow cast members, saying, “Since Ha Seol is not directly related to the incidents, I felt that all the other actors treated me kindly. Actor Byun Yo Yan felt like a neighborhood older brother, actor Go Joon was like an uncle, and actress Go Bo Gyeol felt like an older sister.”

The premiere of “Black Out” is scheduled for August 16 at 9:50 p.m. KST.
