Investigators believe the same person is responsible for two armed robberies at Jimmy John's in North Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department are working to identify a person who allegedly robbed a Jimmy John's in north Charlotte twice.

The first robbery occurred on Wednesday, July 10, at Jimmy John's at 9130 Harris Corners Parkway in north Charlotte.

Surveillance footage from the restaurant shows the armed intruder entering the business, pulling out a gun and pointing it at an employee's head.

Detective Jacqueline Clyburn of CMPD Crime Stoppers is helping to solve the robbery.

“I'm at a loss for words because just one slip-up and it could be over for an employee who is just trying to make a living,” Clyburn said, referring to surveillance footage of the facility.

The footage shows the armed intruder walking into the back room of the store with two employees and taking money from a cash register. The suspect can then be heard demanding that the employees open a safe in the office.

“Open up!” the suspect can be heard shouting on the surveillance video.

In the footage, a Jimmy John's employee can be seen explaining that the safe cannot be opened. After collecting a few more items, the suspect leaves the store.

Police say the same store was robbed in April. Clyburn said investigators believe the same person is responsible for both incidents.

“The same movements, mannerisms, the same matter-of-fact way he walks into the store and demands the money,” Clyburn said of the two robberies.

The same restaurant, Jimmy John's, was also robbed in August 2023. WBTV reported on this incident in a previous Crime Stoppers report. In this robbery, two people stole money from the restaurant.

Clyburn said no one has been charged in that incident and police do not believe the 2023 robbery is connected to the two 2024 robberies that took place at the restaurant.
