C17 Crime Clips for Wednesday, August 14

GILLETTE, Wyoming – Here is a summary of notable crimes in and around Gillette yesterday, taken from police reports from the Gillette Police Department and the Campbell County Sheriff's Office.

Drugs, Aug. 13, Skyline Drive, GPD

Officers stopped a 30-year-old man for possession of marijuana and synthetic urine around 6:57 a.m. yesterday after stopping a black Saab, Deputy Police Chief Brent Wasson said. The man was stopped for speeding and asked to exit his vehicle. He reportedly asked to surrender his marijuana pipe, and a search to determine the suspect found synthetic urine and one gram of marijuana.

Breach of Peace, Aug. 13, S. Gillette Avenue, CCSO

A 45-year-old woman was arrested for disturbing the peace at a government facility after allegedly using profanity in a Campbell County courtroom at 10:31 a.m. yesterday, Sheriff Scott Matheny said. The woman was the mother of an underage girl sentenced to a term at the Wyoming Girl's School. The 45-year-old woman allegedly forced her way through the bar and yelled profanity at an assistant district attorney.

Missing Person, August 13, Westhills Loop, GPD

Multiple agencies responded to a report of a missing boy in Westhills Loop around 2:03 p.m. yesterday, Wasson said. A 28-year-old woman called for help after noticing her 8-year-old son with special needs wandering out of her home. The boy was found in the neighborhood by a Wyoming Highway Patrol trooper at 2:35 p.m. The Wyoming Department of Family Services arrived at the scene to assist.

DWUI, Aug. 13, S. Douglas Highway, GPD

Officers responded to South Douglas Highway around 7:17 p.m. after a resident called to report seeing a possibly intoxicated man get into a vehicle, Wasson said. After locating and stopping the vehicle, officers made contact with a 68-year-old man who was showing signs of intoxication. He was taken into custody for driving under the influence after failing a breathalyzer test.

MIC, August 13, Edwards Street, GPD

An 18-year-old man was cited for drinking alcohol while under 21, another 18-year-old man was arrested on a warrant and a 21-year-old man was cited for possession of an open can of alcohol after officers responded to a traffic complaint at Dalbey Memorial Park around 10:04 p.m. last night, Wasson said. The men were encountered by two pickup trucks parked in the parking lot, with an open can of beer on one of the hoods of the vehicles. A portable breath test revealed one 18-year-old man was intoxicated, while the other had a warrant for failure to appear on drug and substance abuse and endangerment charges. The 21-year-old man was cited after he was identified as the owner of the beer can. No action was taken against a second 21-year-old man at the scene.
